The Town supports TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)
We went to Town Council on September 28, 2016 to ask them to endorse a TNR program in Georgina. The issue was brought back on November 30, 2016 and the Town has asked staff to research the possibilities and report back in 2017. They did, and in August 2017, the Town approved a two year pilot TNR program in the Town of Georgina!
TNR stands for "Trap, Neuter and Return" and is the only scientifically proven way to manage the feral cat population. Feral cats are trapped by volunteers, brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered (and vaccinated) and then returned. This way, they can no longer reproduce. The behaviour associated with mating is also reduced (yowling, spraying, fighting).
Call or email your Councillor and thank them for supporting TNR in Georgina.
